I Can Tell That We Are Going To Be Friends
April 8, 2008
I had a weird day today...I was outside with a snake. Ha! Ha! Yeah, that's what I said. Bradley was inside not feeling well. And I was mowing, weed eating, and sweeping, and here comes a snake... at least (I mean probably more) 6 feet long, and thick. Don't know what kind, don't care. All I could think was "what do I do, what do I do?" Should I get Wishus inside first, should I get a shovel, should I get a neighbor? I am not kidding you, I looked like a nut (picture Velma's feet on Scooby Doo). I was skitten' and scootin' all over the road trying to figure out which neighbor to try first. There were people stopped in the road, neighbors outside there houses in the street, ha, ha. Yeah it was something. We called the Sheriff's office and they sent out TWO OFFICERS. Yeah, when they heard it was at least 6 feet and in a residential area they sent TWO OFFICERS. Here they come down the road in their brand new Chargers. They get out acting so tough. Yeah, okay. Then they say, "how big is it? What kind is it?" Excuses start flying about going to look for it. They kept saying "oohh, I hate snakes (looking creeped out). Just barely making it into the neighbors back yard, they start sneaking around like it was going to jump out and rip them to shreds. They did not look around at all. They just talked into their lapel walkie talkies trying to look like they were doing something. Hee! Hee! I then ask if they need me to go get a shovel or a how or something. They say, nah. So I then say , so how you gonna kill hit. The officer started patting his holster. Shoot, I wanted to snatch that gun and start shooting around in my neighbors bushes. The only good snake is a dead snake. Then one of them says, while pulling up his britches, "you know, snakes are more afraid of us than we are of them. Just call us if you see him again, bye!" No concern about where it went or anything. Needless to say we will never go in our backyard again without thoroughly surveying everything. You would think that we see things like this, but I have never seen anything like this since we have moved here.
