I Can Tell That We Are Going To Be Friends

Fireproof

Brent and I just got back from seeing FIREPROOF tonight- the latest movie from Sherwood. It was so good. And Kirk Cameron is still as hot as ever... but not as hot as my husband, Brent! Hee! Hee! I hope that everyone gets a chance to watch it. My friend Amy watched Brad and Bre'. I didn't even ask her, she offered. Which makes it even more special. Hoping to get my neighbors, Mark and Angela, to go see this movie. God could change their lives through this film. Please pray for them.

Cuddled up with Braddy

For about a month and a half, Breanna Claire had an ear infection that just wouldn't go away. She had three different antibiotics and two shots in the legs for her ears to finally heal. Poor baby!! Yet in the midst of all this we were also trying to get her used to sleeping in a big girl bed. Crazy you say? Well it wasn't us who made the decision on the new sleeping arrangements. It was her. There were so many nights of sleeplessness for our family. God was working on us for sure.

In just a few weeks, things have gotten much better. She does not cry to go to sleep anymore. She will lay in her bed to nap during the day without fussing. However, at night, she has decided that she wants to sleep with "Braddy." Bradley just told us tonight that he wanted Banna to sleep in her own bed. We had to laugh out loud. Then he sweetly agreed to let her start off there as long as we came to put her back in her bed once she fell asleep. So sweet.

Excited about Halloween

On September 22, we got so excited about Halloween that we had to look up all our favorite characters on the computer to see if there were costumes for them. Of course the first request was Wall-e. Very cute!! Then it moved to Blue Angel pilot, Buzz Light Year, a Jedi, Chubaka, a football player, cowboy, and Peter Pan. Ughh!!! Did I mention them all? Breanna's choices were being Cinderella, Snow White, cowgirl, Hollie Hobbie, Tinkerbell, and Princess Leah. We will be making the choice soon and let you know asap. But until then, here are a few pics of the basketball playing giraffe and one very cute elephant!

Dinosaur problems

Bradley- “Mom, Wishus just chewed up my dinosaur”
Kelly- “Oh no, I’m sure you have more just like it. Let’s just throw it away.”
Bradley- “No mom! Can’t you put some metal on it?”
Kelly- “Bradley, putting metal on it won’t fix it.”
Bradley- “Okay, then put it in the FIX IT machine.”

Breanna starts and stops potty training

Yeah, today we thought would be a good day to let her try out her new training panties. She has been showing interest for a while in using the potty, but we have been unable to take the time to really pursue it. Well, now is the time... or is it?? She started off doing well and then there was one accident right after the next. We started running out of fresh pantaloons. We been here and done this. When she is ready, we will know. We will just keep encouraging her.

Ike Strikes

Just to give you an update... our roof has about 100 shingles missing from Gustav. On September 12, 2008, the morning Ike hit, there was a little more damage. The roof started leaking in some places. So Brent got up there in the rain gusts and started nailing a tarp over the area. Ha! Ha! For all his efforts, he should have put his arms out and gone for a ride. Just kidding. He did a great job and I even got to help. When we realized we didn't have enough tarp to cover the roof we called our pastor. He and a few other guys came over and started tarping (is that a word?) the whole roof. Mrs. Johns, you would be so proud. Our whole neighborhood can see our "Good Samaritan" roof.

Right now we are waiting for waters to recede from Ike. We hear the south wind is keeping the waters in the bayous from going back out. Our home never flooded and we are so thankful, because our neighbors did.

A quick visit to see family

When we realized that our electricity might be coming on sooner than expected we headed to see other family as quick as we could!! Glad we did!! We saw Dada, Aunt Patsy, Grandmama, Aunt Tracy, Aunt Ju Ju, Uncle Scott, Aunt Becky, Aunt Diane, and Uncle Ken. We also had a ton of fun with our cousins- Abby, Blake, and Payton- at the water park on the beach, which completely wore us all out. Wishus even made a friend named Buck. We are sorry we missed seeing my dad, but he was having some periodontal work done.

On a side note, the Johns adopted some college students from the Baptist College of Florida, which is in Graceville. They came over to visit and see us. Well, Bradley and Breanna fell in love with them. Bradley was giddy and trying to impress BreAnne BIG TIME!!

Well, I hope you enjoy seeing me fling my kids onto the slip and slide. I think I should get the honor of "Mother of the Year 2008." Hee! Hee!

Happy 2nd Birthday Breanna!!!

Yeah, today is Breanna's 2nd birthday. She is officially two years old. Since Gustav happened, of course, we will not be having a big party. Just us!! And maybe the Harris family being that they are in Pensacola too. Either way it will be a GREAT DAY! So far we have played this morning A LOT and we went to eat at the Cordova Mall food court. We just made her cake and are waiting for the oven to heat up. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Latest Funny Words from Bradley

Bradley- Dad? What is in your nose? It looks like hair.
Brent- It is hair. You get hair in your nose when you get older.
Bradley- Oh... I don't have hair. All I have is boogers.

Bradley- Dad what color is your hair?
Brent- Buddy, it's brown.
Bradley- Oh, mine is strawberry. But Dad... what flavor is your hair?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANDI CAMBLEY!!

Since the storm we have been able to get together with some other families that also evacuated to Pensacola. The other families that are here are the Kings', the Cross' and the Harris'. Yesterday the Kings were with all of us and we went to Perdido Kids Park in Perdido Key. However, today they needed to get back to Houma so that they could tend to their pets that were still in the house. So today the rest of us decided to go to the beach. The kids had so much fun.

Gustav 2008

We are all doing well in Pensacola!! We are having much needed family vacation time. Funny how it came?? It's true... what satan means to destroy us with, God means for our good. It is all the perspective you choose. With all the time we have been spending with GG, amazingly four families from our church in Houma are here too- the Harris Family, the Cross Family and the King Family. Colleen Marcel's Family is also here. Kind of neat. Yesterday we all went out to Perdido Key and played at Perdido Kids Park. When I get pictures I will post them.

Just waiting for better news about when we can go back in. All of our sewage, water and power is out. Above is a picture of the house directly across from our driveway (www.houmatoday.com). Our neighbor will be so happy about this tree blowing down. She hated the leaves!! Ha! Ha! If anyone needs us... call us at 985-381-9243. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.
